Questions:
Part A. How has your organization's advocacy for cleaner water affected local municipal waste discharge policies? What does it mean for the State of New York to declare that a river has "impaired waters"? How do you work with local developers along the waterways to institute more progressive water treatment plans?
Part B.
What is the definition of an "estuary"? How do you describe the Peconic Estuary system of eastern Long Island? What does the "Peconic Baykeeper" organization do? How is the organization associated with the "River Keepers Alliance"? How do you give voice to the ecosystem? What is your training for this work? How does the growth of regulatory bureaucracies affect water quality? What does it mean to be a "truth keeper"? How has the quality of the bay systems changed over the last 25 years? Is recuperative change possible?
Part C.
How do you compare the concepts of "clean water" and "polluted water"? How does land use impact water quality? Can we reverse harmful trends in handling storm water runnoff and water treatment? What value do you place on building a sustainable water system?
Part D.
How are existing water quality laws currently enforced? Why do government water plans fail at the implementation level? What is the role of "advocates" in this process?
